Revolver Grips

Over the years I have purchased a number of grips from Ajax. Unfortunately they have gone out of business. I know there were/are higher quality grips than Ajax, but they served well for what I wanted.

Can someone tell me the names of some grip manufacturers? I know several, but I would like to hear for all of you about the ones you have found and think are good. I don't care about price especially, however I'm not really in the market for real ivory or exotics.

I'm curious to know what all of you have found out there.

As a suggestion, if you're thinking the ivory look, consider hollywood. has a nice ivory-like appearance with a subtle grain yet the "warmth" of real wood.

I have grips by Cary Chapman, Bill Jennings of WY for elk horn and Roy Fishpaw and Paul Persinger. They al ldo great work as does Andy Horvath, John Gallagher and Dustin Linebaugh.

I have several Rugers with grips by CaryC and several USFAs with one piece grips by Brian Neely of Klamath River Woodworks. Am very pleased with both.

Have 2 sets of Jennings grips, an outstanding man to do business with and superior quality workmanship. Highly recommend!

Same with Tim Perkes - 2 sets of SP101 wooden grip inserts. Tight fitting and perect size - highly recommend!

I had contacted Bill Jennings about grips for several Rugers four years ago. When I walked into his shop, I thought I was in the wrong place! Very high end tourist stuff...$500 plus signed artists prints, etc. He was wearing a shirt WITH A TIE and a shop apron. We introduced ourselves and he opens up several drawers of his grips. I went back and got the BISLEYS and a DRAGOON grip framed VAQUERO from the car and we started trying them out. $600 and 3 sets of grips later, I headed north to the Quigley rifle shoot in Montana.

I've been back three times since (on my way to the Quigley rifle shoot) and acquired two more sets of grips. His work is excellent; the prices are reasonable; and he is a true gentleman. He told me quite a bit about the area...Johnson county war and Butch Cassidy and The Hole In The Wall. When I told him I had forgotten my cross sticks for the Quigley shoot, he gave me a spare set. Proud to call him a friend and I'll be stopping buy for more grips next June.

Anyone know where I can find grip inserts that have a "blood" red color (for loss of better words) to it, for an SP101?
