WOW!!!! Either you are really good or just plain lucky. Mary Martin did play the part of Nellie on Broadway way back in 49(?). I had to look that one up. But the Nellie that most people know was from the movie and that was played by Mitzi Gaynor. I knew that one already.

Great performer, great performance. Always a big fan of Reba.

That said, I can't believe they actually used sheet music for a formal performance at The Hall.

Hi,

I had to look it up, too, as I will always remember Mary Martin as Peter Pan, and Larry Hagman's Mom! Also learned that Reba's middle name is Nell, too! :)

On the sheet music thing, I wonder if that was as much a prop for the performance as an aid to the performers? Looked to me like most everybody there got to Carnegie Hall the "old way."

It appeared that all the performers were pros. No question there, at all.

Just looked strange. I spent quite a number of my youthful years in various vocal music ensembles, and even at that amateur level we NEVER used sheet music at a performance . . . or even at dress rehearsal, for that matter.

Makes me think this was a quickly-pulled-together performance without much rehearsal.

Just a personal observation, of no particular consequence . . .

:)

Hi,

'Tis possible: I read something on YouTube about this originally being a PBS special. They put together some "interesting" things during Begging For Money Week...
