range time with 310 gr wfn

A big thanks to GP100man for the swap and timely arrival of a lee 310 gr wfn .430 bullet. I loaded up with 2400 @ 12 grs, 12.5 grs, 13 grs, and 13.5 grs. All shot reasonably well but the 13 gr was the best. I ve loaded 10 of those and 10 14grs(somewhere I read the heavies like to be pushed hard) just in case. Hopefully I'll never need them, but it was fun trying them out.
The batteries in my franklin digital gave up the ghost. So I switched to a lyman with a trickler(ac power)-Oh man what a difference. I don't know that I can go back now. It is a loaner from my wife's nephew(he doesn't have a permanent address and is slowly buying reloading stuff). Yep this stuff is addicting. I may even have to start casting someday!

I'd give some W296 or H110 a try just for grins to "push 'em harder". I was somewhat disappointed in the 310 Lee bullet's accuracy in two different .44s, although I suspect the mold (or my casting) wasn't up to par. I ended up milling off the GC portion of the mold to drop 262 gr PB bullets which I haven't played with much yet....Experimenting with powder burning is an addiction that needs no cure, that's for sure! :D

Hi,
I am in Kotzebue, Alaska. Until yesterday the only box of .44 mag I could find was a Rem yellow box with 180 gr.@ 49.95/50. So yesterday found some 320 gr. with gc at 45.00/20. Sure glad I brought my own! I've seen mushers throwing roasts of caribou and 1 foot plus fish to their dogs. Today I heard 3 beluga were harvested-details were not given as I was listening on a patient's family conversation.
The temp today was a balmy 26 degrees. Sure beat the 7 degrees with a windchill of -16 degrees 2 days ago. Geez no wonder my face hurt. So I will wear my ski mask on those days. Not just to make my wife happy!
Anyway thanks to all who have helped this TDY along the way.

As I was packing up my reloading gear I found a pound of 296 I bought in Texas that I'd forgotten about. So in the future (3-6 months) I'll play with that too.

It would be helpful if you mentioned what cartridge you are loading for. Some might jump to the wrong conclusions (i.e. .44 Special or .44 magnum).

In fact, we would be far more helpful to ALL reading this forum if we would indicate the caliber we were loading and the case we were using for ALL of our posts. As you know, you can use .44 Special cases in a magnum, or .38 Special in a .357 magnum, etc.

It'll help to insure that any newbies watching won't get themselves in trouble.

Yep, you are right. This is for a .44 mag Ruger Redhawk, and I used Remington(.44 mag) once fired brass with cci 350 primers I believe(I am not home to verify) the rest of the particulars are as above.
