Radiator Cleaning

I used Prestone Flush and Cleaner in the '81 Chevy C-10,250 c.i. six. I then changed gaskets on the t-stat housing and outlet and noticed white deposits. Is baking soda ok to use in removing these? I remember we used to use this back in the 60s to flush radiators prior to changing the a-freeze.

When I was growing up, we always flushed ours with Red Devil lie...then flushed well with water and refilled with coolant.

For years now, I have used a commercial radiator flush to clean mine.

Probably appropriate. The neighbor across the street and his two sons all drive Chevy trucks and SUV's, and hardly a month goes by without one of them up on blocks for major work.

I've used BG radiator flush. Has to be done at the service station.

Well,I ran some baking soda through it and drain-filled the radiator twice,letting the engine run long enough for the thermostat to open each time. I'm putting "water wetter" in instead of antifreeze...won't go below 32F until at least late November.
