About every other weekend, I fry up country ham and make about a cup of red eye gravy. During the week I use it over biscuits, rice, beans etc as a salty seaoning. I think bottled red eye gravy would make great condiment like Soy or Worcestershire sauce

PS, given its main use is served with GRITS, I can understand why you have not :)
red eye gravy is made by pouring cold coffee in the pan you just finished frying salt cured ham slices.
(the saltier the better)

PS, it is that easy and it is also cleans the pan :)
the objective is to quick flash some of the coffee to lift the burnt remains and to emulisify with the grease.

Odie, that is what I have been doing. normally gone by the end of the week. Just when I push the bottle of soy sauce out of the way the other day to put over some rice is when I thought why isn't red eye being sold the same
