product warning on barrel start date

When did Ruger start putting the warnings on the barrels of it's firearms? I can't hit the right combo of words or overwhelm the search faeture. Thanks, jack

As a point of reference, I just picked up a #1V in 7mm Mag that was shipped in May, 1977 and it had the barrel warning.

The stainless Liberty marked 357 Blackhawk that I have listed for sale on Gunbroker now shipped in Feb, 1977 and it does not have the barrel warning.

So, using those two guns as single points of information, I would narrow it down to sometime between Feb and May, 1977.

Others, I'm sure, will be able to narrow it down further. I also realize that just two single points of information aren't enough to concretely say I have a trend but take it for what it's worth.

The book says in 1977. Suspect it was throughout the year as existing barrel stocks were exhausted.

So maybe yes, maybe no, but certainly by the end of the year or any time after that.

I've never seen a "Bicentenial" 1976 with a barrel warning, regardless of when shipped. They won't have a warning no matter when shipped or essembled because they were MADE in 1976.

picketpin, my first affair with Rugers was in 1976, I thought the logo was neat then and I still do. I picked up No. 1As in .243, .30-06, a 1S in .45-70, with serial numbers exactly 10 apart (ending in xxxx30-4o-50) I then ran across a No. 3 in .45-70 whose serial number fell within the other three and latched onto it. I made the mistake of shooting the No. 3, and that was the most brutal rifle I ever pulled the trigger on, and that includes some big ones. I eventually lost interest and turned the herd into BARs, later into pre-64 Winchesters, and finally on to Browning Safari/FN bolt guns. My recent No.1 S-C has kind of rekindled my long lost love of the classic single shot and I have been looking for a lighter caliber to go with it. I have spotted a .270 that is borderline. I will call the vendor Monday and see. A .25-06 might do as well-just not set up to load for that one. I have LOTS of .270 brass, so I suppose I could squeeze some of it down. Thanks, jack
