Potentially harmful stuff

After reading some of the idiocy that has been in the news lately (banning of practically everything), I spent some time doing a mental inventory of all the stuff I have in my house and shop and concluded that I'm the most dangerous human being within a 1/2 mile radius. Literally dozens of edged tools/weapons, guns, assorted blunt objects, and various chemicals that could be made to go boom. All of which would no doubt be on somebodies list of stuff I shouldn't have. And to top it off, I'm an old retired Marine who votes Republican.

Quite a few years ago I served on a jury that involved meth. The prosecutor spoke of the different chemicals and materials found and used. I thought WOW, I have almost all of that at my house.

Gunny, you sound like me. I read an article about a murder the other day and they said the suspect had 5 firearms in his home. Oh good God what would they think of most of us. I have 5 in view from where I sit and those aren't the hidden ones or the ones in the safe, under the bed etc. etc.. I also have herbicides, insecticides, and chemicals that were banned for sale years ago. Remember PD680 dry cleaning solvent from the Corps.? I still have some of that, it's what we washed the aircraft wheelwells with, of course with no protection.... I think I may be a superfund site :shock: .

You guys make me feel so much more "normal." My home and shop have at least 10,467 dangerous tools, chemicals and substances around at any given time. Well, maybe not that many, but a lot. I have never felt my environs were anything other than typical of the average American male. At least that's how my grandfathers saw it.

Apparently the times have changed. :?

Oh, yes I vote Republican, probably the most dangerous tool I possess.

Living right on the border has it's advantages....things like oil based paints (that still work and smell bad), insecticides, chemicals that really do what they are supposed to do...all available if a person knows how to handle it...Yes the tree huggers go nuts when I even talk this way but we coddle the truckers that cross the border by the thousands every day without safety checks, no smog requirements, drivers that may or may not be licensed and often no insurance....so if I use a quart of oil paint on a shed or something or use a little weed killer that's "banned"...who cares?

The problem isn't the chemicals, it's US that's the problem!
We have to be protected from ourselves!
