I tired a quick search but I didn't see exactly what I was looking for, so I apologize if this is well covered elsewhere.

My question is, after a day at the range and a good cleaning, do you guys polish or wax your blued revolver? If so, how and with what products? I plan to run thru a couple hundred rounds tomorrow, to clean 'er up real nice after... but I'm not sure how to finish the job.

Thanks guys!

If your going to put it in a glass display case and have it out for people to see and don't want any oily smeary look on it, use a good automotive paste wax.
If it's going in your safe till the next range outing just wipe it down with good ole Break Free CLP, or liquid RemOil, or whatever your favorite gun oil is.

I use Flitz Gun Wax, on stainless and Blue does a nice job also gives excellent protection! Seems to make cleaning off powder residue easier too. ps

No, I shoot too often to do that. I just wipe them off with an old rag dampened with BreakFree CLP or RemOil.

Well here's my "home remedy" that has stood me in good stead for more than fifty years:

After cleanin' the gun with Hoppe's No. 9, I liberally coat the gun with a 50/50 mix of motor oil and Three-In-One oil. Then reassemble the gun and wipe it down with a paper shop towel, those blue ones from AutoZone. Seems as if most motor oils dissolve carbon, in gasoline engines or firearms.

Again, has worked for me for over fifty years, can't say what long term use might cause to happen.

Funny you should mention that.

Just the other day, I waxed my revolver with some car wax, which I do every so often.

Usually I just use oil, but I also keep a small tin of wax in my cleaning bag.

But this time, when I wiped off the wax, I noticed that the gun just seemed to stand out a little more BRIGHT than before, and was not oily to the touch...an added benefit.

...not that I'm into "Bling" "Bling" on a gun, or anything like that for Pete's sake... ...I just do it for the weather protection.

I use oil too. Anything you use will come off with the next cleaning anyway, and I like to have everything well oiled between uses.

In between range trips....while in the safe I just use any spray type silicone lube....Displaces any moisture, Removes finger print ,cleans and protects . I just spray some on a terry cloth polish rag and wipe it down any powder residue just wipes clean with repeated use....

EEZOX.

Dries and leaves a protective coating. Looks waxed. Fingerprints and rust are a thing of the past.

Plus you don't have to keep wiping the gun down every time you handle it like you do with other gun oils.
