I just bought a 3" Police Securety Six in as new condition for 325 shipped.

Did I do allright? or did I pay too much. I don't recall seeing a lot of 3" PS6s over the years and I kinda got a soft spot for 3" guns anyway. 8)

Besides, S6s are getting back in fashion...

If it is truly marked Police Security Six, then you have an odd one, indeed.

The true 3" Service Sixes (not 2 3/4") were an uncatalogued model made up on special order.

I've never seen a blued one, only stainless ones. I assume yours is stainless? 357 mag.? (.38spl would be even more uncommon).

I'd say you did very well, even if the condition is well used. I have one and they are a very nice piece.

Here's my 3" Ruger Police Service Six, .357 Magnum. I found it by accident two years ago and jumped on it. This one is a great shooter and is a good field carry piece. Yep, I paid a "bit" more than $325.

Yes. Police Service Six.

It is blue in .357 Mg. and is said to be a 3" barrel. I have not taken delivery of it yet, I expect it to arrive late this week. When it does, and if it really IS a 3"er, I will take some pictures for show and tell.

In looking at the picture of the one I bought, the ejector rod shroud stops in just about the same place os yours, so I would guess that since yours in a 3 incher, the mine will be too.

Yes, mine is truly a 3" barrel. I measured it from end to end. I also have the box that identifies it as "Catalog No. GF-33 - 3" Bbl..."

It wouldn't hurt my feelings at all to have one with a 4" barrel as well.

Photos will help. With only 1/4" difference, it's hard to tell by just looking. The front of the ejector rod housing has a bit more sweep or slope to it on the 3".

A phone call to Ruger Records with the ser. no. will confirm the model number. SDA-33 would be a blued .357 with a 3" barrel, SDA-32 is a blued .357 with a 2 3/4" barrel.

In any case, we'd like to see photos! :D

Got the gun today, it is 2-3/4. :(

I am a little disappointed, but what the Hell? The blue is anbout 95% and the grips have a few small nicks, so I guess I will call it a shooter.

The bore and the chambers are spotless....we will see how it shoots. 8)

You did just fine for a nice clean gun that you like.

The short barreled Service Sixes are much less common than the 4" version. (On the Speed Six, it's the other way around, the short barrel is more common.).
