The "reviewer" had never heard of Peter Pan Peanut Butter . . . "It's the p-nuttiest!"

Kids these days . . .

My wife tried to get me to try "Justin's nut butter", I declined. Even my daughter can't say that without giggling.

My brother and I grew up eating Shedd's peanut butter It used to come in a pail. We must have found 50 of those things in the basement when we moved my Mom. :)

Peanut butter is peanut butter. I buy the cheapest brand I can find to fill my dog's Kong Toy with. He doesn't seem to be able to tell the difference. :)

This ignorant person doing the review IGNORES the fact that those "private brands" are MOST LIKELY made by one of the big brand name companies. I would BET that a check of the Sugar/Carbohydrate levels would find the supposed "winner" loaded with BOTH in one form or another.

Hi,

I'm with Ron: cheapest brand works here, as long as it's crunchy.

Worst invention ever? Freeze dried peanut butter! Only stuff I've ever found the "chipmunks" (actually golden-mantled ground squirrels to be correct) in the Sierra WON'T try to steal from your pack and eat. I guess even Alvin's got his standards... ;)

They used to have a machine in the grocery store where you could make your own fresh peanut butter and another one to grind your coffee beans. I don't see them any more. Quick Check or A&P I think.

Thee are a lot of natural or organic peanut butters to be had. Nothing but peanuts.

Out of the available commercial national brands normal grocery stores sell nation wide I like Skippy best, but in my house its Jif I'm out voted by the old lady and kids.

I wouldn't et that Peter Pan stuff, the whole idea of a little green man wearing tights just turns my stomach.

I grew up eating PB from C-rations left over from WW2 and Korea. Open the can, pour off the separated oil on top and eat the solid PB chunk.
I like house brand peanut butter, thicker the better. I buy jiff and other good brands for my wife.
I do not like any thing added to PB. I keep a jar of PB in all my rides, 4-wheeler, boat along with MRE's. To me it is comfort food. Ya'll can keep your Skippy extra creamy or any other PB with extra stuff. That crap ain't PB.

The kids bought some of that old fashion peanut butter from Costco that has the oil sitting on top in a 2 pack, they opened one and no one could stand the taste of the crap, it had to be refrigerated after it was opened so it leaked oil all over in the fridge, the other unopened jar they put in the cupboard leaked oil all over inside the cabinet so I got mad and tossed both jars of the crap in the trash after offering some to my dog he wouldn't touch it either.

There was a Publix market up in Orlando that use have a peanut butter making machine and they sold it under the Publix name in plastic containers at a reasonable price. It was pretty good stuff and FRESH too.

Anyone remember Glove Kid, this was the brand that we ate in the 50's.
As someone posted earlier, it had the oil separated, about an 1 1/2" to
2" at the top of the jar, which you had to stir in, so you could spread it.
And as I recall, the flavor was excellent.

When I was in high school our cafeteria got government commodity peanut butter and would just put it out in little paper trays on the tables in the lunchroom. You can eat it by itself or have it with your lunch or whatever. I was the best peanut butter I've ever had. It was really thick and didn't seem to have much added sugar, if any. Came in a metal can.

I don't know if it is still available. When my family was poor we would go to the commodity store. Govt. peanut butter was awesome, so was the cheese. The butter had about an inch of oil on top of the 1 gallon paint can. It was unbelievably good.

Winco stores up here have them. you have the choice of several nuts to turn into "butter".

Jif...

I don't care for Skippy and can't stand crunchy peanut butter.

I mostly use Jif with Welch's grape jelly on wheat bread. Makes a great sandwich...wash it down with hot Earl Grey tea.

I do remember the good ole days with government surplus peanut butter, butter, cheese, dehydrated milk, dried eggs and canned meat.
I ate more surplus cheese sandwiches on home baked bread than anything else as a kid.
We were kind of poor. Moved all the time to stay ahead of the bill collectors, I guess. Wore hand-me down clothes and went bare foot in summer.

Amazing how hard work will change your life circumstances.

Today, I live in a big house in a semi-rural development on almost 2 acres. We own multiple vehicles, all the latest gee-whiz gadgets and none of my children have ever wanted for anything.
We eat like kings...have dinner out at nice restaurants more often in a month than I did in my whole sub-adult years.

Laura Scudder's Unsalted natural PB for me! Smooth or crunchy. It's a lot of work getting it stirred up, but it's SO worth it! ;)

Most of the processed products have sugar added which ruins it in my view.
