P94 safety lever problem

Howdy guys,
a buddy of mine has a P94 in .40 with a problem. it has an ambi saftey selector and the lever on the right side keeps popping out/coming off. It looks like there is a detent and spring in the correct position, but what is supposed to hold the lever in position? Any clues for a frustrated ruger owner? Thanks
