P91DC info please.

Hi P-nuts,
Anyone have a real early SN? I picked one up and it has a Aluminum foot on the mag like it was a proto-type or something? Forgot my camera at home so no pictures to share but it looks just like the factory mag foot with no emblem. (flat black finish)

Also if anyone knows when Ruger changed from the polished slide to the matte finish (approx SN that would be cool. I think I will try to find a newer unit with the matte for my humble "collection"

My P91DC is an early 1992 with a SN 340-053XX and the sides of the slide are polished, other than the polished sides, the slide looks pretty much like my P89 and P90 slides. I have two of the 11 round mags with the Aluminum floor plate, i never noticed the difference until i was reading your post and checked mine, i removed a floor plate and sure enough it is metal with no emblem. All of my other 10 and 11 round mags have the plastic plate with emblem.

Maybe this was the first year production style? 20 years ago is a long time for anyone to post first hand knowledge but here's to hoping.....

Anyone else want to confirm they have a P91? There is one on gunbroker going for high money that ends today. I was going to bid but it is over my limit already.

Your magazine looks identical to the two that i have except for the wear marks, i don't think mine were used much, if any. One of mine has a orange sticker similar to the GUN WILL FIRE WITH MAGAZINE OUT warning on newer ones but it states, This magazine holds eleven (11) rounds of 40 S&W cartridges and do not use with 9mm pistols. I bought the pistol Jan. 17, 2011 for $319.00 in what looked to be like new condition and although i don't shoot it much, it is a really nice pistol, it looks, shoots and feels pretty much the same as my KP944 and they are both completely reliable.

$319! Was that in hand or do you have fees / tax etc? Nice deal for a 91.

Wow one of the first 600 guns! Do you shoot it much or have you just saved it? Any idea what you paid back then?

$319.00 plus $19.14 sales tax. There is no other fees in Michigan other than the 6% sales tax.

I looked in the box to see if the price tag or sales slip was still there but no luck, only the manual, lock and original grips. It was something under list price but I don't remember how much. I added Hogue rubber grips and shot it some early on but not much the last few years. My old hands have trouble racking the slide now so I mostly stick to other types. Thanks for the welcome, I have been following this board for years and only joined to reply to a couple of topics that I had specific info on.

I know what you mean about the slide on the 91, very stiff spring to handle the 40 round. Almost feels harder than the P90!
