P345 mag falling out. Anyone else have this problem?

I bought a new P345 about two months ago and love it. I have 2-3 hundred rounds through it and today it suddenly started trying to drop the magazine every other shot or so. At first I thought it was the new mag I got from ruger, so I tried both of the ones that came with the gun with all the same results. I put the mag in and it latches firmly, can shake, pull jiggle, everything, it's in there; but fire a round or two and it drops right out. I field stripped it and everything appears to be in its proper place. Has anyone seen this issue before and can tell me if it's a simple thing or am I stuck shipping it off to ruger?

Thanks!!

I don't have experience with the 345 but since the mag release is a straight push let me put this out there. Have you changed your grip at all and maybe you are bumping it? Also the force of shooting the gun is a lot more than just shaking it around. Maybe the spring that works the release is damaged or worn? Not holding as it should. Right now I can't remember how this is setup.

Good luck,

Just looked at the manual for the drawing and still don't see the mag release spring?

Let us know how this turns out.

I'll have to go with what roylt said. You may be unconsciously pressing the release button. I've fired a good number of rounds through mine and never had anything like that happen.

The mag release spring is #47 on the exploded view in the manual, I've checked it and it's there. While I was shooting yesterday I adjusted my grip to make sure I wasn't bumping the button, I also tried squeezing the crap out of it and also a more relaxed grip, nothing helped. After work I'm going to make a trip to the dealer where I got it and see what they have to say. Looking like I'm going to be on the phone with Ruger later... I'll let you guys know what comes of it.

47 looks fairly simple to remove (going by the drawing only) maybe it is dirty or something in that area. Can you remove, clean, and replace?

2 - 300 rounds doesn't seem like a lot though to make a dirt pile.

Keep us posted.

Took it to the dealer yesterday, he brought out a new one to look at and compare to, it looked like my magazine catch was either worn or smaller than the new one. Sent it off to Ruger, I'll let you know what they have to say.

Got it back last week. Didn't get to talk to Ruger directly but the work order said they replaced the mag catch. Ran a few mags through it and all seems well.

Nice to hear you had a happy ending.
