Tom, that dang sure looks original to me , Sir. But let me note this. I was wrong once back in '66 and have not heard the end of that sumbiscuit yet !!

One sold for "best offer near $299" on eBay (page shows "for 299" but the search results says best offer off of the asking price was accepted

Some months ago Mckunes Sporting Collectables had one for sale for $1750. Mine looks as old as theirs did. Anyway, I sent them pictures of mine an asked if they would be interested in buying it. I also told them I had seen the one they had for sale. In all my years of collecting old Winchester goodies I've only seen the one I have and the one they sold. I thought they were rather snooty in telling me mine was obviously a repro and worthless. I can't figure out how to post pics on the WACA forum to ask them. These were made about 1900. Yooper the one on eBay would really have me questioning it being an original. It looks to good to be that old. Thanks again.

Yeah, it does look better. So I would do more research to find out.
By chance is there any 3 digit small number on the bottom edges or the back?
Sometimes, advertising will have a 3 digit number or even a letter and then 3 digits to signify the date it was made.
For an example, I have 2 original 1948 GMC Truck brochures with this: "A-348" on the corner of the rear. The 48 stands for the year they were printed. Usually the last 2 digits are the year. (if there are numbers like that). Reproductions usually will not have them....unless someone is trying to pull a fast one
