I am sourcing parts for a future project. So, search your old parts bins and shoeboxes for a cylinder for a 45LC that is RECESSED.
Finish not super important as entire project will be refinished, but I do not want any pitting.

I am looking for one priced like it is past its expiration date, & starting to smell suspicious.
In no rush whatsoever, so blow off the dust bunnies and give me a great price.

Like Cholo stated, early on they did. I have 2 1973 models with recessed cylinders, and today I just bought the one from Westerville that Cholo is showing.
I can see the confusion is my fault though. I stated NM when I should've said that it was GOING INTO a new model. Thanks for pointing that out. I fixed it.

I want to take a cylinder such as these and put it into one of my other NM SBHs. I just WONT do it to one of mine that came from the factory like this as they are too nice. Unmolested survivors that I will appreciate until one day they go to the next person who will appreciate them.

An old model cylinder can be fitted to a new model frame. I have one. But it was also rebarreled, which may make a difference. Otherwise, cylinder length would be critical. Mine was originally a plain Jane .41 mag. John Gallagher fitted the old model cylinder and rebarreled it with a 5.5" Douglas barrel (in .44 magnum).

Over the years,, I can only recall seeing a couple of them for sale. Most often,, you find the .45 ACP cylinders,, as most folks tend to lose or sell that one,, leaving the Colt cylinder in the gun.

And the last one I saw sell,, if my faded memory is correct,, was $250.00. I only remember it,, because I think I actually have one in my spare cylinder box. I haven't looked for it in a good while.
I buy spare cylinders any time I find them & the price is reasonable.

I just looked at the sleezbay link for the parts. He does offer quite a few.

However,, his listings can be confusing to some. He lists "OM Vaquero" parts. Now,, I know that there are no Ruger factory OM Vaquero's. (3-screw actions) And I know some folks use the term OM for the ORIGINAL Vaquero's. But a person seeking parts may NOT realize such differences.

BTW; I did see an OM .44 Ruger cylinder. If it's a recessed chambered one,,,,,,,,,,,!

Yes he did offer one.....but I snagged it. Thank though for the heads up. I educated him on OM vs Original Model Vaquero. Didn't work. He seems to be coming around though on his education of the difference according to his messages. Seemed very interested in learning more about his fares. Actually thanked me for the education, and gave me a large discount on the cylinder. $100 is nothing to sneeze at!!! I would highly recommend him. Along with messaging him for your wants and needs.

I did a little checking,, and I had a NM .45 Colt, a Bisley NM .45 Colt Bisley, and my memory was good. I did find an OM .45 Colt cylinder. But not really wanting to part with it because,, sure as I do,, I'll find a gun missing that cylinder.
