Some folks just can't take "No" for an answer. To them I offer Option A - Leave peacefully. So what's Option B? I make you leave.

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – An East Dallas woman is outraged after she claims one U.S. Census worker showed up at her door for a housing survey and would not take “no” for an answer.

Sonia Platz said the worker went as far as to camp out in her yard as she waited for Platz to change her mind.

“She’s ringing the bell, knocking on the door. And I’m like, ‘I don’t want to participate.’” Said Platz
The East Dallas resident said it started with a series of three letters from the U.S. Census Bureau. A few days later after receiving the third later, a census worker showed up. Her husband verbally declined.

But a few days later, a different worker showed up at their home and would not leave according to Platz.

“That is a whole, other level. That’s not following up. I felt like she a part of the mob,” said Platz.

The census worker sat on the bumper of her van for the next 30 minutes. Sonia said the worker would only get up from the back of her van every few minutes to see if she had changed her mind about taking the housing survey.

“Some people were stunned. Some people couldn’t believe it. They were kind of shocked like, ‘that can’t be a true government census bureau worker,’” said Platz.

I think a call to the police would be in order, along with a trip to the station to sign a complaint. Any other action would certainly get you in trouble. If there seems to be an immediate threat from an out-of-control person, I don't think anything more than a garden hose would be needed.

Uhh, after being told to leave, the census worker is trespassing. Unless she had paper signed by a judge. Yep, call cops, file complaint and be there when they go to court.

The "authorities" must comply with the laws just as we mortals. Problem is most folks are intimidated and won't act.

Had a neighbor once who was being harassed by a L.A. City water cop. He told water cop to leave. Water cop called LAPD. Neighbor call LASD. LAPD showed up first. LASD a short time later. He ask the LASD to arrest the LAPD and the water cop for trespassing. Supervisors of all three governmental agencies arrived and it was quite a show for a while.

After making the LAPD and water cop uncomfortable for a bit he relented and just told everyone to leave. Funny, we never saw a water cop in our neighborhood again.

If (and I say if) this story is a true account, I would have definitely called the police. Refusing to leave after being notified to do so, as well as sitting on someone's vehicle, calls for law enforcement intervention. I have to wonder why the news media was called and not the police.
