I've recently lucked into an AH 280 Rem, and am now curious how many early (non-prefix) guns were made in this caliber. So, who has one, and what is the configuation (and approximate serial number)? Thanks

If your gun does indeed have a 22" light contour barrel on it, Alex Henry forearm and no sights, then you have a pretty rare gun. My notes show maybe 20 made.
Of course, the 280 is a rare caliber anyway with probably not many more than 100 made.

Yeah, I was pretty happy to get it. And the wood is nice too. Nothing like those eye-poppers you always dig up Dave, but still nice.
Here's a not too sharp picture of the AH with my 132- prefix 1B 280 that I turned into a "BH" with some nice lefthanded wood I've had for a while.

I am envious! I know of only one locally that a friend has, and I cannot
convince him that I need it more than he does.

Buddy perhaps you need some Booker or Bison Trace to help him change his mind.

Good luck with your quest. I have one of these in 222, sold one in 6mm. A decision I still regret.

I even offered a NIB 1V in 22PPC, but no deal!!
Maybe one day.
But, he knows for a fact that I want it, and want to be first in line!

I suppose there are some things that even friendship cannot overcome!!!
