Yesterday I purchased a new Mini 14 stainless. He showed me the actual rifle I got and I noticed the end of the reciever had a space a few papers thickness between the wood stock, like it wasn't set in quite all the way.

I have to wait 10 days before I can take it hoime and look it over more closely. I was wondering if that space is normal.

Rugers often have small gaps and are also wood "proud." Its normally not an issue. The Mini uses the trigger housing as the latch to hold the action and stock together, so there does need to be a gap or things will be really tight and difficult to assemble/disassemble.

Thanks for the info. Yea, I visited another gun store today and looked at one, and it has the slight gap also. I'm assured all is ok.
