New M77 RSI in 7X57

why do they have to do them in stainless. I dont dislike stainless rifles. I have quite a few of them but full stocked rifles and all #1s are just to classy to be anything but blued and real walnut. Its about like putting chrome wheels on a model a to me.

I hope to finally be able to get one of these, my ffl called Lipseys on speaker phone on the 21st, her rep said none in stock yet, couldn't give an in stock date, but supposedly has one on her 'wish list' for me..we'll see.

Because...they're having so much trouble selling these? This is the fourth or fifth run of these, so it appears someone doesn't share your opinion.

I've got a blued steel, butterknife bolt handle shadowline cheekpiece stocked Mannlicher in 7x57, made by Empire Rifles, that is about as classy of a rifle as you'll see. But I've also got an "ugly" Lipsey's Ruger 6.5x55 RSI. I have no trouble keeping both within a few feet of each other in my gun safe.

Trey, those are both beautiful rifles. And yes Brad, the stainless/walnut rifles may be ugly to you, but not to all of us. After all, rifles were made and used traditionally "in the white" before they were ever blued.

I know most of the #1 guys dislike the SS. To my eyes SS is much preferred, wished Ruger would make more SS/walnut rifles, best looking combination in my opinion.

I'm not a No.1 guy, and I love SS hunting rifles, just can't stand them in walnut... the RSI is a traditionalist's rifle. Nothing but ugly for me in SS/Walnut.

But we can agree to disagree...

You are correct, 7-08 already done, know of one available for $900 NIB + shipping/transfer. The 7-08 was the only cal so far produced I really liked, but I've missed the first 4 issues, so gotta get this 7x57.

I know all about the cult following of the 7x57. Just don't think the the rifle is "classic" enough for the members of the cult. This caliber belongs in a classic sporterized mauser. High grade walnut hand checkered,hand rubbed oil finish. High polish blue a bit of tasteful engraving express sights with an ivory bead. A real rifle :wink:

I whole-heartedly agree but for us schmucks that can't afford such splendor we will have to settle for reasonable substitutes... and we are quite excited when we can get them. :D

I can understand that. If I wanted the rifle I described I could never afford it either. I have always wanted a 7x57 but never found a rifle so chambered that excited me that I could afford. Should I ever encounter a #1 RSI with decent wood I will join the cult.

While I love Ruger rifles, I do own a 7x57 1980 model Winchester Featherweight in 7x57. Blued with walnut. Great shooter.

I love mine, but have only looked at it, never fired it, and will love the new one...if I can get one! :lol:

Have five of the Little 7mm's, shoot two.
