Bought an LCP from the PX on Wednesday the 12th, nice new one from the back that hasn't been handled at the counter. Dot is Blue with a black stripe. Fired case envelope signed by Mr. Miller. Came with one mag that has Made in Italy stamped on it.

More mags from Ruger on the way thanks to 20% off (max $20) & free shipping.

2 boxes of Independence (Blazer) ammo and go to the range today, the 15th. Range is at a Cease Fire due to Medevac overflight, then another, then another, & another. It's 2 hours later, go back to the Range shack and get me a Raincheck for another day.

Haven't fired it yet but I do like it. Easy to carry, dosen't have any sharp edges to catch on anything. Wish they would make it in .32 ACP also.

Wife got herself a LC9 some time ago but seen a LCP today and like the size over the LC9.. She is thinking about getting it also. Her hands are really small so maybe a better fit for her.. Bill's bill's bills' all come do in July for us so it will have to wait till after that.. I had a few 380's and like that caliber. I always thought it was enough power to get the job done if need be.. You mentioned .32acp I was wondering why you like it.. I always had the feeling that round was a bit anemic after shooting a few.. I have a .32 Beretta model 1935 my dad brought back with him when he was over seas in WWII. That's the only .32 I kept do to sentimental reasons. Do you know somethiong I don't about the .32 ACP round? Let me know how you like your LCP when you shoot it.. Be safe! George

You'll love your LCP. Kel-Tec has a 32acp model the same size. 380 is a better round for SD-I don't think I'll get an argument on that. George, My Dad brought a Beretta 32 acp back also. He passed this past October at 88 years old. His has the Italian Air Force crown and eagle stamped on it. I'll treasure it and damn well keep shooting it. Probably the least accurate pistol I ever shoot-doesn't matter-it was my Dad's. Leather holster, too. My Dad came back from the South Pacific with malaria after Okinawa. He traded for the Beretta stateside with an Army grunt who survived the "bloody boot" (Italia). Funny, I remember reading the US campaign in Italy had more casualties than any other American theater of WW2.

Thanks for the replies. I do like the pistol.

George, I just enjoy shooting the 32 also and this LCP looks like a good size and style for it. I have other 32s but none like the LCP. My Beretta Tomcat gives me the most trouble as I have to stop and clean it after only 70 or so shots. My other pistols function fine till I use up all the ammo I have with me.

On a side note my other wish is for a Ruger Mini 30 in 30 Carbine, probaly never see it though.

Ordguy, Thanks for your reply and your thoughts on the .32ACP round. Ya your right it is a fun round to shoot. My old Beretta I think is a sharp looking gun. One thing I did learn when shooting my .32 was if you shoot it late dusk or and night it's a flame thrower.. Really cool cal. for other to see at night. I could never afford ot shoot mine all that much do to the cost of ammo even 30 years ago. Heck Winchester white box in .32 was $17.95 back then.. At the same time i could get .45's for 9.99 same brand also 9mm was about the same money. Cheapest I can find .32 ammo now is 24.97 guess I'll have to buy a few boxes just to shoot the old gun again and have my wife get some trigger time with it too.. Thank you for the good conversation! George

The LCP is a nice little pocket pistol, I love mine. I carry it about 85% of the time and just about 100% of the time in the summer.

It doesn't take to much time to get used to the trigger pull or the recoil. Since I reload and this little gun ejects the brass into the next county; I installed a 13# recoil spring. Helps with the recoil, also.

Ordguy, envious. My Dad was career Navy, I served 21 yrs in the Navy, followon job located at a USAF base and post work for 24 yrs and NEVER had access to an exchange that sold guns, only in the early years was I around one that even sold a few kinds of ammo. Good on you and thanks for your service, I used to teach EOD guys. Don

Thank you Don. I'm retired 55Z50 so we had some of the same background, I know what a 55D does. Ordguy = Ordnance Corps (Class V). The PX here only began selling firearms a couple years ago when the new store was built.

Is a #13 spring heaver or lighter then the one that came with it? Do you know the lbs of each spring or the difference between them? Thanks! George
The #13 is heavier, I believe the factory spring is #9.
I have an extra one that's unopened if you might be interested, $9 shipped.

I didn't even know the exchanges sold firearms until last summer when I went to Mtn Home Airpatch for a visit.

LCP's are great little guns. Bought mine because of the availability of ammo vs the .32 acp keltec(I actually like the hold open after last shot better). Both guns disappear in the pocket. The .380 is the better round. Both are cheap insurance. I hope you get to shoot yours soon. Enjoy.

AGE Ranger, Thanks but My wife has the LC 9 so I don't know if that spring would be useful.. I got a set of Galloway #20lbs spring inner and outer " like the stock ones" to use with her LC9 as she has a issue with pulling back the slide I was mixing and making to try and find something to make the LC9 operate better easier for her.. I came up with using just the outer "bigger" coil spring sent from the Galloway #20 spring set.. Seems like that should work well with 9mm 115gr target Winchester white box load as they are light.. I don't know how light I can go with the springs with a 9mm round so the wife has a gun with good power and is easy to use for her and will still have reliability.. That's why she's thinking of a LC .380 or LCP in .380 what ever model is the smallest I don't remember but she seen one this weekend and liked the looks of it, the one smaller then her LC9.. If she made that move guess her LC9 would become my gun and I would have no issues with any recoil springs in the gun. Is it safe to go light with the recoil springs on the LC9? it's set up from the factory with two, a inner and outer just like a Colt .45 Officers model.. Thanks! George

Remember that an LCP does not have a manual safety. And the felt recoil is worse than the LC380 due to its very light weight. If your wife is OK with the LC9 I think she would be very happy with the LC380.
IMO the LCP is just too small even for my small hands.

My wife takes a size 4 /12 to 5 wedding ring.. Very small but arthritic hands and wrists.. She has not shot the LC9 yet! I think she's a but worried about it's recoil.. I'll shoot anything don't bother me a bit..George

I have arthritc hands too and the LC380 is fine but a little more recoil than my Bersa Thunder 380. But Randy Wakeman says that the LCP slaps like an LC9, maybe a little worse. The LCP only weights 9 ounces - the LC380 is twice that.

I think the weight on the LC9 is a tad under 18oz. About as light as I would want to go for a 9mm.. My first 9mm I ever shot was a T PT99 same as a Beretta 92 big gun and i still had some recoil to it.. Don't know what that gun weighted but a few lbs I'm sure.. George

Finally was able to fire my new LCP. 100 rounds of 90 gr Independence (brass case Blazer) with nary a problem. Managed to keep em in about a 6 inch circle at 10 yards. First shot kind of surprised me, after that it was just plain fun to shoot. Slide gets pretty warm after a couple of magazines so have to set it aside for a few minutes to cool off.

The mag that came with it is marked Made in Italy. The extra ones I got from Ruger are marked Made in USA.

Do these mags fit another pistol?

Overall I'm extremely pleased with the gun. Think I'll keep it.

Glad you finally got to shoot it. It's fun to shoot. I shoot at least 2 magazines each trip to the range. I have close to 1k through mine. The only problems i've had was with some reloads. The light published loads weren't powerful enough to eject the spent round. Ever had any issues with factor loads.

I don't know about the mags fitting another pistol, I doubt it. I know three of the magazines I have are made in Italy. The fourth made in USA, the fifth fell behind mom's mantle.
