New 96/17 on order and understand they come with a trigger issue--
any recommendations? Also, what's the best ammo?

Got one myself. Trigger was a little heavy when I got it. A little bit of polishing on the hammer and sear will help a lot.

Haven't shot mine a lot but will when scope mount base gets here this week.

Thanks a million--keep me posted on how yours works out(mine is still on its way to my FFL dealer).

Pay close attention to how trigger assembly is put together before you take it apart. The hammer is all that needs to come out to polish the sear. You can polish the trigger sear without taking it out of housing. Assembly is a little different. Wouldn't hurt to take a picture of it before taking it out.

It's really no big deal. Just look at it before taking hammer out.

Definitely pricey, but I won't be making up my mind on it for awhile--
want to work on my open sights shooting for a little bit.

My rifle arrived at my FFL dealer today. I got to drive 25 miles up the
freeway to see it and register it. In 10 days, I get to drive back up the
freeway to pick it up--the price of living in "La La Land". Anyway, I liked
it and look forward to trying it out. Any special barrel break-in regimen?

Man. I thought 24 hrs. was bad for a rifle in Ill. 72 hrs for a handgun. Where is la la land? Still haven't got my scope base. As far as barrel break in. Shoot the snot out of it.

CA. of course, and it's only going to get worse--after Feb, I might not
be able to buy ammo for it on line. No local gun shops in LA, all closed
long ago--too much of a headache. Range is 20 plus miles, but I'll be
there with my spanking new ruger in only 9 more days now. Want to try that factory trigger before I go to work on it.
