I've been told that the innards of the BFR are similar if not a clone of the Ruger BH. How accurate is that statement?

I have a BFR that's in serious need of a wide spur hammer (which I already have) and while I could strip and reassemble a BH easily to the frame I'd like to know if I'm ill advised trying replacing the hammer on the BFR.

I have zero knowledge on the BFR's. However,, over on the SA forum,, I was reading a post & someone had put a BFR hammer in a custom they built. It MIGHT be possible. I just can't recall which thread it was in.

I have two BFR's one with a wide spur (WS) hammer and the other does not. That slim hammer could either use a serious de-horning or replacement because the WS hammer sure spoiled me so I found one on Ebay to replace the slim one.

Funny, MR doesn't offer the WS hammer in the customize your gun page so they'd have to do what they call a "manual entry" to add one (only $78) if you do a custom order.
