Hi everyone I need some help here. I bought some rose wood grips for my SBH with square trigger guard from a member here. The grips arrived today but they don't fit right.
They appear to be the right shape for the square trigger guard but the screw is too short, it measures 15/16" overall and the screw head is 1/16“, so the overall travel from hole to hole is 7/8". Is this the wrong screw? Btw my grip frame is 1/2" wide.
Also the grips don't seem to fit right on the frame, the back edge of the grip does not line up with the back edge of the grip frame, there's 1/16" inch of the side of the grip frame sticking out from behind the grip panel (see photos) The front edge is flush as it should be, but the bottom of the panel hangs down a little over the frame.
I used a grease pen on the side of the grip frame to help visibility.

Here's the grip panel as installed as it can be without the screw

So if anyone can give a heads up as to what is wrong I'd really appreciate it. Is my grip frame somehow different?
Also just wanted to add I am not accusing the seller of anything nefarious, he has already said he would make good on the deal. I'm just trying to figure this out
ThanksThanks

sheep.dog,

Those don't fit!!

Now do you have the orginal grips? They fit? Put them side by side with these and do they match? No= you were sold incorrect grips or any variation of they were not made properly.

I beleive all SBH dragoon style grip frames (blued/stainless/brass) and Old Model New Model are all the same size.

Spoken with seller?

Here's my opinion. Take it for what it is, just an opinion. They look like a pair of home made grips. Maybe they never fit too well on any gun in the first place. Or they could have been made out of wood that was not dry and what you see is shrinkage.

Being that the grip screw is too short, makes me wonder what gun they were actually made for.

This is one big reason why it is best to send your grip frame to a gripmaker so that a set of grips can be properly fit to the frame. Anything else is second rate at best. I would strongly suggest Cary who posted above.

Hey everyone thanks for the input.

The seller has been very helpful and good to me on this one. He is paying shipping for me to send the grips back to him and is shipping me a pair of factory grip+ a refund of my original purchase price. He was great to work with.

There are some great people to deal with and some who are not. Sounds like he is one of the good guys.
Those grips were not made by Ruger ,IMHO !
