Went to the casino today. I didn't lose any money. But then, I didn't play any slots. I saw some friends that I haven't seen in a year or two and talked with them for a while. So I didn't feel so bad when we went to the Bass Pro shop.....just bought a shellholder and a cartridge box, and had a late lunch at the restaurant...

Won't eat there again.... service was poor and food not so great...

Never been big on Bass Pro, but since they have bought Cabelas I like them less. Cabelas DID give veterans a 5% discount on pretty much everything. When Bass Pro, who apparently isn't all that supportive of veterans they have stopped the discount on guns, ammo, reloading supplies and a few other things. Prices haven't gone down, so I don't understand, if Cabelas could do it then why not now??? Only thing I can think is they don't support our use of guns, or don't support veterans. I've got no use for them at all, and have been to Cabelas once since that was announced. The only Bass Pro I've been to is in Alaska of all places and haven't been impressed with their service or quality. My 2 cents worth FWIW.

My wife likes to go to the casino 2-3 times per year (well, she'd LIKE to go a whole lot more often!), and I HATE casinos, everything about them, so the Bass Pro across the street is my refuge from the madness, but I'd never consider buying any big-ticket items from them. Just a bag of jerky and a hunting magazine to help get me through the day.

Tom, too bad about the lunch. I used to take a short vacation in SW Missouri every spring and would leave Minnesota late at night just to hit the Springfield Bass Pro for breakfast. Big buffet upstairs at Hemmingway's.

Yesterday was like yours. My wife likes the Prime Rib at the Virgin River casino in Mesquite Nev. I like to gamble. She does not. We started out for Ruby's Inn at Bryce Canyon but got her to change her mind. She got her prime rib, I tried the eggs Benedict then I gambled for about three hours. I got down to our last twenty hit a few hands and paid for the trip plus fourty or so. A good trip. Mothers day dinner and a tank of gas included. In fairness I have to say I have probably "Payed it forward" a couple hundred trips long ago.

We did have an enjoyable time though. When in Wetumpka we went the back way to Prattville, and crossed a most interesting looking bridge probably built in the early 20's would be my guess. Seems like all concrete and has walkways on both sides with concrete benches to sit and enjoy the river view.
Lori and I enjoy history and historic places anyway...
