My Redhawk's hammer pivot assy releases to the left side?

I took a picture of my (fairly) new-to-me Redhawk and my brand-new-to-me stainless Security Six this weekend, and for the first time noticed that while the Security Six hammer pivot assembly releases to the right, my Redhawk releases to the left. Cosmetically, it's one of the few things that sets them apart from each other.

Not a big deal in its own right, but a quick Google Image search of other Redhawks and the online Owner's Manual that I checked both show the Redhawk hammer pivots typically punching out of the frame to the right. So apparently Ruger made a few that come out on the left side as well.

Any of you Ruger Gurus know the story behind this? Which side does your Redhawk's hammer pivot assembly release to?

Haha Joe, you wouldn't like it. They forgot to blue it, the barrel is too long for you, and it doesn't require you to cock it with your thumb before you pull the trigger to fire it. :wink:

I have three , two 5 1/2 blue and one 7 1/2 stainless and all of them come out the right side .

Mine was born in 84 and it's on the right.

Having owned quite a few Redhawks I have had some with the left tab. They are not really rare but are uncommon. Chad covers this feature in the Redhawk section of his gun reference. I believe this occurred only with the KRH-44.
