a tornado watch is in effect.

We're as prepared for more rain, more flooding, flash flooding and power outages as we can be, but we're not exactly prepared for a twister or two, or the hail that most likely comes with it. Oh, well. Another unavoidable adventure on the horizon.

Last week's low elevation snow is being melted by heavy rain in the foohills, creating flash floods and breeching rivers in the lowlands.

Spring - and hopefully drier weather - can't get here soon enough. At least the trout fishing will be excellent come the real Spring snowmelt. 😁

We've been lucky down south near the beach. The rain was more just steady, with no torrential downpours. We did have hail a couple of times but short lived. and, I'm on top of the hill so No worries about floods.

Wolf, hoping you come through in good shape.

This just in...

I don't have a basement. Nobody in California has a basement. 😳

Yikes! That ain’t good.
”Shelter in place” is all I can think of. That’s NO help at all!
Here where we do occasionally get a twister, folks without a basement ride in out in the bathtub!

Wolfsong, my heart goes out to you. I realize that there aren't many good people left in your state anymore, so I won't say you should leave it all behind.
Cailifornia needs all the helpful people it can get! I WILL say, however, that in East Tennessee, the people & the weather are far more normal.
Come on over when you're tired of the hazy (weather) and the crazy (people) in your state! Several of your fellow Foothill residents have come here recently, and they are still sad about leaving the Sierras. After seeing their pictures from the mountains, I can understand why. Luck to you!

Sorry for the terrible conditions out there. Been following it on the news and cannot believe all the horrible weather folks are going through out there!

It's not a very good video but the noise you're hearing is not ehite noise or wind. It's rain coming down hard. Deafening in real time. It poured like this for twenty minutes straight. Don't know where all this water is going to go. It will be interesting to take a drive around the ranch tomorrow morning. I hope the cattle aren't swimming. 💦

Always a new adventure.

Atmospheric River is a new term for me. News coverage looks terrible. Be safe in CA!
The news either invented it or discovered the term just a few years ago. Prior to that “El Nino” was bandied about when we had wetter than normal winters. Of course, according to the experts it all due to climate change, even though these cycles have been happening long before man started walking upright.
