Hearing the "Hambone" recently reminded me of the Crawdad Song. Remember that?

Sometime in the mid-'Fifties I heard this sung as a cadence as a platoon marched by. This instead of the usual "Sound Off!" Either at Ft. Hood or Ft. Carson.

Andy used to do that one once in a while on the Andy Griffith show. He was pretty good on that guitar too. Not too many people know that he graduated from UNC with a Bachelor of Music Degree.
