Mini Thirty Model #5854...

Anyone here own one of these? I'm contemplating getting one to go with my American Ranch in 7.62x39 ...And, am wondering what kind of accuracy to expect? I certainly don't anticipate it being at the same level as the bolt action, but 2-3" @100 yards would be plenty satisfactory...

I bought a 585-series of that exact model about 6 months ago and immediately upgraded it by swapping the plastic stock for an older (curved butt) hardwood stock which I glass-bedded to my particular rifle. I also reamed the Ruger muzzle device to mimic M-14 match specs......It shoots very well in it's present configuration but any comparison between it and an "out of the box" Model 5854 would be meaningless....apples to oranges. Plus, a lot depends on the ammo being used....In any event, These are basically good rifles so it shouldn't take much coaxing to reach your goal of 2 to 3 MOA out of an off the shelf version.
