Bob's gun parts (Arizona) has walnut stocks and there is a link in the Perfect Union thread (I believe DM premium guns ...) which has the mini walnut stocks from Boyd's.

If that RRA flattop with all the plastic and mfg guarantee of .75 MOA is what you are looking for, then I say go for it. I have an AR (A2) which I like very much, and it does shoot itty bitty groups with match ammo - and I admit that is fun to do and to have that capability.

But, for me, I get more enjoyment out of my wood-stocked mini. Mine rattles and clacks and is a little loose and shoots around 2-3moa with about any ammo I care to feed it, and I know it's not going to get much better than that. It kicks the brass into the next county (I'll get around to fixing that one of these days...). I believe I've heard Bill Ruger quoted as saying it's a "big plinker," and that's the way I use mine. But, the looks, the handling, the fit at my shoulder, the feel of it, and the fun/enjoyment factor is what floats my boat on this one - go for what floats yours.

The AR market is trying hard to get the AR type rifles accepted in the deer woods, without it's user being looked upon as a tactical nut from the city. You see it in the AR magazines. Around here, the red necks with their Remington 7400's in 30.06 and cheap can beer would look at you funny.

Only because they are jealous. I have only ever met one person that likes guns that doesnt like AR's, especially if they have had the opportunity to shoot one. That one person is a unique specimen in more ways than one...
