Mini 14 target

Ran across a local ad for a mini 14 target, and have a few questions.

How far back does the target model go? If it is an older model, will it have a heavier barrel?

It does have the harmonic tuner on it, but it seems like an older model mini 14 and target model don't go together somehow. Does the target model have any magazine restrictions?

I am trying to get a partial serial number before I drive 100 miles to see it, but would like some knowledge beforehand.

The Mini 14 Target was released in 2007. With the clamor over the perceived inaccuracy of the Mini 14, the Target was Rugers idea of how to make a MOA rifle out of a Mini 14. In these parts, anyway, it didn't catch on. Then a short while later, Ruger changed the barrel profile of their Ranch rifles, making the accuracy issues less of a problem, further obsoleting the mini 14 Target.

The heavy barrel and harmonic dampener go hand in hand.

And magazines that will fit any Mini will fit the Target version, regardless of capacity.

Thanks, I had never really run across the model. It looks interesting, since it is priced about the same as a new Ranch mini 14, but it is 2# heavier and a 22 in barrel. Not exactly a field carrier, so I will pass. I am just waiting for a nice private deal on a mini 14/30 but in the current manufacture with the improved barrel and all of that..
