Mini 14 Target Harmonic Balance issues

I recently purchased a Mini 14 Target with Hogue stock. After shooting only 20 to 30 rds. the point of impact changes and it is all due to the harmonic balancer becoming loose. Tghtening the 4 screws does not help as the HB loosens after 20 or 30 rds. So I tried Loctite blue but that only last for about 40 rds. So I tried Loctite Red but because of the barrel heat, that only lasts about 40 or 50 rds. I got tired of screwing around with the HB and removed it yesterday. I took ithe Mini 14 to the in-door range and ran 42 rds through it. The rifle shoots remarkable well without it. Have any of you experienced similar problems or have solved the loosening problems short of spot welding it onto the barrel?

You could try putting a small divot on the barrel where the screws make contact and the put Loc Tite in the divot and on the screw threads.
Is there enough room to seat the screws and then put a second shorter screw in behind the first one? Kind of a double nut solution.

I have mine adjusted about 3/4 of an inch back and tightened down.
I have never used locktite on it as it has never shot loose.

my accuracy has always been sub MOA and usually gets 3/4 of an inch with crappy PMC ammo.
I get 1/2 MOA, usually, with Hunting Shack 55 gr FMJ and similar but not quite as good with Black Hills version of the same stuff.

My best group was 4/10 of an inch with Hunting Shack...

I am pleased with the accuracy.
I typically shoot at 110 yard range.

I am going to go for better groups this summer..



As for why your weight is shooting loose, I have no idea. I would find out where the "sweet spot" is before I locktite it, even with the temporary stuff.
The only thing to shoot lose on my rifle was the Ruger Rings and i loctited them. they are PERMANENT now.

How tight do you tighten them? Lets not jump to welding quite yet... (if at all)
