Thought I'd share my long awaited purchase.... I've been playing hit and miss with the previous owner (he'd be in town, I was unavailable game). This morning I made the 100 mile trip up to his place and grabbed this up... Sorry about the poor pictures, our digital camera finally died...

I'm unsure if the previous owner shot this more than a few times, there's very little bluing loss on the underside of the action, there's doesn't appear to be any blueing loss on the outside what's so ever. The wood has a couple marks that directly coorispond with the HUGE metal clasp on the sling (why people install slings with large metal peices on them will forever escape me)...

Serial number:183-42880-- with the OEM clip, and an off brand 30 for 5 bills.

Wow, that is really nice. I love the classic look of nice wood and blued steel. Congratulations.

Looks like a great Mini-14! Congrats!

They always work, they're fun to shoot, and they can definitely do minute-of-bad-guy for those who like to complain about accuracy issues with the Mini.

Go get yourself a handful of factory 20-round mags and you'll have a great go-to gun for almost any situation.

She sure is purdy, congrats!
I got a 1776-1976 commemorative model but it's at my house in FL and seeing yours makes me long for her.
Ya'll can have all your black tactical guns, give me some gorgeous wood and stock oil any day.
I'll see ya in the fall honey, I'll be com'in home soon.

I really like my mini-14. It is one of the newer 580-series models and will shoot 1" - 1.5" groups with the only ammo I've ever shot through it - Hornady V-max (55 grain) factory ammo. I have a Browning A-bolt in .204 Ruger that is more accurate, but I mainly use the thing for coyotes at less than 200 yards. So the mini is plenty accurate. Plus it is hands-down my favorite gun to carry around. It is compact, easy to get in an out of vehicles, takes a licking, and keeps on ticking. They are great guns.

Yours was built 1983, i like the old wood style, i recently picked up two factory folders from the mid-1980s, wood just looks classic to me. I figure the stainless would be good on a boat (if i ever get one) to fend off pirates.

I really enjoy seeing the older minis still being loved. Mine is a old 181 that I love to shoot. all I have done is added a strutt for the skinny barrel that helped with the few flyers but she has always been pretty accurrate for me. She likes the 62 gr. bullets best
