I recently bought an ugly Mini 14 as a project. The gun is trash, the barrel has been cut to 14.5” at some point, and the rest has been thoroughly abused.
Someone pointed out that the gas block is a factory folder model, or AC556, and that it is quite rare and valuable.
Could someone please help me understand what I have, and what it might be worth?
Thanks in advance.

Last three I seen on GB sold for $295 they were blue and stainless. Blue standard gas block $74.00. Like mentioned above about the location of the sling attachment determines factory folders.

Thanks, I didn’t think about looking at the completed auctions on Gunbroker. The only one I could find sold on Ebay for $430…
Those little things are pricey.
Ever since Sampson started making the folder everyone wants to have their own fake factory Mini 14 folder. The side sling attachment is a good way to know. One listed there right now is not even a folder gas block. $325!! Same thing on GB is $74???
Mine all letter from Ruger as factory folders.

Thanks for bringing that up. I was wondering if it would letter. That particular gun is too far gone to be worth a full restoration though.

My Mini 14 did NOT letter as a factory folding stock but it IS one of the original type units and not the new repro.

Not real fun to shoot for an extended time.
