Loaded over 24gr of H-110. Will post results later tonight. This is absolutely the finest mold I have ever used. The first 2 were thrown back in the pot, the next 200+ were keepers(in one hour).

1 shot then I adjusted down as much as I could (need taller sight  ) and a bit to the left. Then 2,3 and 4.

1173fps average for the 4 shots.

Dang, that is a wicked looking cartridge pal! 8)

BTW, looks like you were in the middle of a lube switch...
Me too, from Super Moly to LBT. My lube is "zebra looking" too!

Yes I am/did about 300 rounds ago. I tried Rooster and had to heat it, so I think the Super Moly and the Rooster blended. The only problem with using the Lee pot is if it drips into the cavity even a second before you open the spout, it will wrinkle the tip of the HP. Doesn't bother me, but it doesn't look professional either.

And, I am getting 1180. How are all the other people who load 300+ grain boolits getting the 1300-1400 fps they claim?

1266 fps is as fast as Hodgdon lists for 300+ grain lead boolets, I think that the rest of the guys are doing it in either a Super Redhawk or a 454 cylinder. Flatgate would be the first person that I'd ask.

I really like the looks of that one though, should be a hoot to shoot.

1260 fps with Lyman 457191 (292 grs with #2 alloy) in 7.5" BH...Could go a little faster if "needed"

Very nice!! Like the hollow point. You may get slighty more velocity with a longer barrel.

Those brass molds look awesome. ps

Tek, I am shooting a little less of (22.7gr) of the same powder and getting an average for 5 at 1144fps from a 5 1/2" Bisley.

Need to try them in my Redhawk with the 7 1/2" and see how they do.

24 g. of H110 is definitely a "warm load"!

I use about 2 gr. less under my "store bought" 300 gr. LBT style M.B.W. gas checked .44's. It's been so long since I've "chrono'd" the loads
that I do NOT know the velocity. (The data is somewhere in my "loading notebook.) Don't really care, either, since they "shoot straight".

Tall sights are mandatory. I've added, or had gunsmith/factory help adding, tall front sights to just about EVERY shooter I own from the .32's on up!

flatgate

PS Homeboy front sight....

Professional installation....that was a wee bit too tall.......

Hey Tek one thing that might be the reason for the higher velocities might be altitude and or humidity. I can't remember what for sure my 340's were doing but do believe they were a bit faster than what you are getting and it was out of a 5.5 inch barrel. But I shoot over 5000 feet above sea level and a humid day is 20 percent. I'm just guessing here but I'm pretty sure your humidity is just a tad higher. But I do love the bullets and new lube

By the way I have a blued cylinder that would look a lot better in your gun. After you get that front sight squared away just send me the gun and I'll get the cylinder all fitted up test fired and I'll send it back................in about 10 years

I have a blued one as well for it, in 45 Short Colt :)

Besides, I figure if I keep shooting it, it will go from nickel plated to quarter plated.

those .45 short colt in the blackhawk are a kick in the pants. Both my .45's have the extra cylinder and I have a lot of fun on the days my hands hurt to much to shoot the big stuff

I load 22 grains WW296 under a Cast Performance 335 grain WLNGC bullet. It gets me 1196 fps from a 7-1/2" barreled SRH 454.

I loaded the same bullet in cut down 454 cases, again with the same 22 grains of 296 and averaged 1211 fps from my 5-1/2" Bilsey in 45 Colt. I'm guessing the cut-down 454 cases have less case capacity than the regular Starline 45 Colt cases I use...

The range where I shoot is about 220 feet above sea level.

Tek, I finally got to shoot mine today. I have both the plain base and GC version of this mold. I tested the GC version today with the round HP at 50 yards out of my Harton custom 45 Colt Ruger Bisley and it shot wonderfully. Loaded 23.5 WC 820 on a CCI 300 in WW cases.

Tek, what is 45 Short Colt[/b, what is the case length? Blue cylinder you mentioned, is it chambered for this cartridge specifically?

Thanks, Onty.
