Yesterday my dad and I went fishing at his lease. About 3 nice sized ponds and a good 20+ smaller ponds. All full of largemouth bass.
We went out to a pond we hadn't been to yet, we're still new at the lease. Catching them mainly on an H&H Spinner Bait. I've tried fancier spinners and other lures before, but nothing, for me, has caught as much fish as a double spinner yellow/white H&H.
They weren't bad sizes, only had a couple little ones, most of ours would've been keepers elsewhere. This club has special rules regarding keepers, but we're not worried about catching keepers...just catch and release. We caught 28 between us, and missed or lost a good 10 more. The last few we caught were fun, see a bass hit the surface and throw their way. I caught a few that way towards the end of our luck. We'll be going back to this pond again.
I had 16, 3 on a worm, rest on the same H&H. I had one late that hammered it and broke my line at the reel. First cast with an all yellow H&H yielded a smaller bass, but he thrashed at the boat and came off sans a chunk of his lip. Bet he'll feel that in the morning. After that I ran out of luck and we about called it a day.
Let me know if these pics don't show up. Using a new service for my photos now. Here's a link to the pics we took.
Definitely creeping up on summer weather, had rained just a bit before cranking the humidity up a few notches. Pretty hot for barely seeing 90 degree temps yet. Barely a breeze either.
