Wheat isn't looking good here. Son drilled 60 acres of wheat for grain for our customer and it's not looking good at all. On the other hand, the broadcast rye cover crop is coming right along. Quite a difference in characteristics of two cousins in the plant world. Rye can thrive in cold soil and frosty temps while wheat just goes belly up and quits.

Mid 20's last 2 nights & actually didn't get out of the 20's all day yesterday. We got a dusting of snow as well.
Lexington area.

Wow. My folks lived in Cadiz KY for 30yrs and I don't think it ever got that cold. My kids in Knoxville, TN said they had some snow stick already. Meanwhile, up here in PA we've had a few frosts and a few snow flurries but it hasn't been under 35 degrees yet.....it's been an odd season.

Cadiz is only about a 50-minute drive from here.
