Guess some folk aren’t forward thinkers. Luckily Ruger is.

Hi,

My little pea brain says there are two general ways to approach life when you buy up a competitor (with only a few million tiny permutations involved!) :

1) Shut it down, and hope its former customers switch over and buy your products (force them as required); or

2) The other is to look at the competitor and use it as an additional separate revenue source.

If the competitor made the same product you do, and you have adequate production capability to handle the extra demand, I see shutting it down. If the competitor's product is nothing like what you make, you feed and water it and rake in the money that was going elsewhere before. Especially when there's a strong brand affiliation/loyalty attached.

Since Ruger's never made a real competitor to the Marlin lever rifles, my hope is they'll choose the second option.

We'll see.
