Man gets rifle back 44 years after it's stolen

I thought this was a pretty cool story. I had a Colt 1911 stolen one time and got it back 8 or 10 years later. It showed up in a pawn shop in Dallas.

Red pad and bolt handle shape look sort of Ruger-ish.

I had several guns stolen in 1982.

I blew up the photo & pretty sure it's a 77R.

huh, I hadn't thought about the statute of limitations, but evidently the Ky. state police forgot to tell the thief of my buds rifle about 12 years after the fact. I stopped at gun shops all over then & went to a lot of shows in the winter months & carried the s/n for years & finally found the rifle. The troopers ask the then owner where he got it & he told them. Same with the next, & a 3rd. When they got to the 4th, he wouldn't say who he bought it from, cause he couldn't. My bud knew right off he was the thief. He was charged receiving stolen property followed by a fine & a bit of County time.

That POS kept it up & is now serving a lot of time in the big house for numerous things, one being in possession of a firearm by a felon, him getting that over the rifle theft years earlier. Sort of a feel good thing.
