Are all these marked "Norinco"?

I bought a new one several years ago that I liked a lot, but the wood was very soft. Every time I shot it the wood worked loose. I hated to get rid of it but the dealer gave me the full purchase price against an SLR-95 which has had zero problems.

the verdict is typically that it's a Polytech. I had read up on this some time back but no longer remember the details. I say this because I also have a MAK-90 which is not marked norinco. I think the polytech guns are essentially the same, from the same shop, but were made during a different time period.

That makes sense. I too have a Norinco marked AK and this one without that company mark. They are literally exact copies of one another except for the mark. Now, the Norinco has a s/n starting in 90 which I've heard indicates an import or manufacture date of 1990. The "un-marked" version has a s/n starting with "CW" or something of the sort.

I've read of AKs that were caught in transition ~ already here when the new laws took effect but not yet distributed or sold retail. Some say those are the ones without Norinco and with an alpha or letter beginning of the serial number.

It's the same deal with SKS's. I have a chinese one that is not marked Norinco. Polytech would be the correct manufacturer, and I do know that I traced the manufacture date of mine to sometime during the late 70's. It was purchased in the mid 90's, when they were all over the place for extry cheap.

I have a MAC-90 with a milled receiver that is marked Made in China but has no Norinco marking. There is
faint remnants of another marking that has been scrubbed that looks like Polytech. The serial number has no
letter pre-fix.
