My tang safety 30-06 with an older style USMC mil dot leupold with target turrets.
Paid 500 for the rifle and 275 for the scope. Only wish it had a touch heavier barrel

My tang safety M77 30-06 is from 1974 and has a fixed Leupold 6 x , great rifle. Also have one in .243, one in 22-250 and a .22 mag and all went to the range today.

Classic and can do 90% of what a shooter/hunter needs a rifle to do. My go-to, do-all rifle is pretty similar - a M77 flatbolt RS in .308 with a 3.5-10x Leupold VX3i with Boone & Crockett reticle. With 165 grain Nosler Partition handloads, I'm good for most hunting situations short of the really bigs that bite back.

My old M77 30-06 is a 'PL' Liberty I purchased in 1976, and I put a Redfield 6X scope on sighted it in at 200 yards shooting 180 grain silver tips & it has never let me down or my sons. They have their own but they always what my rifle.

Here is Ruger 77 MK2 30/06. Not much left that's factory except the action and bolt. ER Shaw heavy barrel, Timney trigger, and Boyds stock. Lugs have been lapped. It is a tack driver.

Yep. If you can't get it done with a .30-06 it must be really big! Even then, with the right bullet and a cool headed shooter...

I haven't found a 30-06 one that I need, but I picked up this .308 Mark II a year ago:

It is incredibly accurate at 100 yards and will probably be the rifle my son uses for the elk hunt this year.

You are exactly right! My tang safety 77, in .270 Winchester shot 1/2 MOA out of box. Has never let me down. That .277” dia bullet has picked several deer up off their hooves.
