Gents, More of a reader (and learner) than poster here. I've been trying to supress the "need" to have one of these for a good while and it's been helped by the scarcity of brass.....well I stumbled upon a stash of brass, already had dies and everything else to load the ammo - now the search is on for the Maximum. Looking for a shooter, not a safe queen, fine with some blueing loss and honest wear, but concerned with the top strap wear from incorrect reloaded ammo, so something treated well during its lifetime. Either barrel length will do, prefer the 7.5, but not too picky. Just looking for a revolver to launch the Lyman 358627s at moderate speeds - Please PM if you can help me - Thanks for your help - Bill in MA

Don't worry about the top strap cutting, usually abates after 1000 rds. or so. Forcing cone erosion is the biggest concern. Stay with a heavy bullet, 180 gr. at minimum, I personally prefer a 200 and 210 with gas check. Also stay with a slow burning powder, such as 4227. You still could possibly find a "shooter" for in the 6-750 range. NiB usually start around $750- to as much as $1100.00. They are getting harder and harder to find, period. One of these days I MAY decide to part with one of mine, but not right now. No, you really don't want to know how many I have either. Hope you find one, just remember to PM me the serial number, been collecting those since about 1986. By the way once you get into reloading the Max search for some posts with David Bradshaws name attached to them. He probably forgot more about development, shooting and reloading the Max than I may ever know. My forte is the revolver itself, hope this helps, Coogs.

Coogs - I think that you're partly to blame on this. I've read quite a bit in this forum (and about the Maximum) and noticed your responses to others regrding the revolver. Bradshaw's name had slipped my memory, but do recall his name "attached" to proper reloading for the round. You will be my first PM, if/ when I locate one that suits my needs. I've tried my mould, which casts around 210Gr with a standard 357 Mag rounds with unsatisfactory results. As I started reading more and more about the round and the revolver, it started the "itch". Thanks for the info - Bill

Bill, yeah, your addicted!!! Good luck in your quest. If I run across "another" I'll pm you. Watch Gun broker and guns America, one pops up there every now and agin', Coogs.

Lee Martin gave me some great load data also, which I think I forgot to copy from PM to paper, and the PM is long gone, and said you can get the best heavy bullets out there for these from LeadHead bullets. It's in Kansas. I'm guessing you can't go wrong with advice from him or David :D

Jim, ya might as well get it out of your system and get on the hunt. Just remember if you find #600-11588 it be worth a 7 1/2 and a 10 1/2 NIB Max to me! Coogs.
