Ken: Go to the Yahoo Groups for #1s.
In the files section there is a list of recomended smiths that some of us have used or are using over the years and that have :
#1 Agreed to be listed, we asked first BEFORE we put their names on the list
#2 Have agreed to take on more #1 from people from outside the group.
#3 Member have used a recomend.
I'm sure there are other smiths but this is an awfully good starting point with th smiths and usualy their specialty or jobs they are willing to take on.
Not sure where you live but it's possible there might be one within reasonable distance to you.

Over the last 30 years or so they have re-chambered and re-barreled at least 30 #1s for me. He'll use any barrel you want to use and I know for a fact he has a 257 Roberts and a 257 Ackley Inproved reamer.
Their prices are really quite good and their turn around time is usually under a few months and sometimes it's weeks.
I can high recomend them. They'll tackle just about any REASONABLE idea.
