I finally got my hands on one of these again after letting my first one go about 30 years ago. I love the fact that there is so much room in the cylinder. Wanting to work up some loads in the 353 Casull or 360 Dan Wesson range. Has anyone got any good loads in these ranges that work well in this revolver?

Also wondering if I can use 360 Dan Wesson brass without reaming the cylinder. The brass is only 0.13" longer than the magnum brass, and it appears that the Redhawk has an extra 1/4 inch length over a typical magnum cylinder. Granted there is some internal taper, but just wondering what I'd have to do to make it work.

I use 17.4/296/158XTP/mag primer, gets the XTP cooking pretty good. A violent impact load is 18.0/H110/140speer/mag primer. It does 1700 out of my 357 RH.

If you use the second crimp groove on the 180gr XTP you can put quite a bit of H-110 under it. Start low and work up.

Thanks. I also found out that I can load the 180gr WLN+P from Beartooth Bullets in a magnum casing and have more case capacity than the .360 DW with a 180gr Sierra FPJ - Thanks to DWFan on TheHighRoad.org

I should be using small rifle primers, right?

What do those super hot loads feel like with the wood grips?
