I would be more interested if they were something _other_ than .45 in caliber!
Now, what other caliber is there???? ;) really  . I see they are SS instead of blued though.... Still its tempting .... Don't have a Birds head grip frame ... yet...

Can you say "mid-size XR3 Grip-Frame & acp" ?
Already have that with the .45 Colt/.45ACP flattop convertibles from Lipseys :) .

I'd like to see pics. I have a Montado in 45 Colt that I had Alan Harton fit a birdshead grip to. Its a favorite to be sure.

The only thing I don't like about the New Vaquero is the hammer. Much prefer the Montado hammer, but like the Bisley hammer the best.

I like mine just the way it is :D ,,, Vaquero, 2 digit pre-fix frame, Bisley hammer/trigger, Hole size in the 45 variety.

I know, I know, .45 Colt is popular because it really is a great cartridge. But I'm 50 years old and been buying and shooting guns my whole life. Buying another .45 Colt is like buying another 30/06 or 270 Winchester. Nothing wrong with any of them but I covered all the basic bases long ago. Now I only buy things that are different enough to make me take a second look.

Lipsey's has been doing things with .44 Special. I'm a fan, that might be enough. But I just keep thinking that I've missed out on all the fun (aggravation) of reloading 38-40 and 44-40. I would like to give it a try. Just don't have any guns for those. Obviously my REAL first choice would be .41 Special but I've very nearly given up hope of ever seeing somebody make that a factory chambering.

Right behind you by only a couple of years :) .

Understand! I only started shooting the .45 Colt (and .44Spec) in my 40s and I really enjoy it. Before that it was all .22, .44Mag or .357 :) . So I know a bit what you mean. Now that I have four .45 Colt revolvers (two large frame, and two medium frame and all 5 1/2" barrels) I am about at the saturation point myself. But I don't have a 'real' .45 Colt SAA yet, nor one with a birds head grip. Those two are still on my 'want' (not need) list. May buy just the birds head grip and put it on my .44Spec Sheriff that I have .... We'll see. I've thought about the 44-40 ... but boy, I'd have to get back into lubing the cartridges for resizing.... spoiled with the straight walled cases!

38-40 never really seems to catch on. I know it wouldn't be a strong catalog seller, but if we're talking limited production I'm sure they could move 1,000 or so.

The 38-40 really packs a punch! I have one in a Buckeye and it's a handful. I would certainly buy one of the 1,000 if anyone made them up.

BTW- I'm 63 and love shooting the old calibers- 32-20, 38-40 and 44-40- in my Rugers.

I've said the birdshead grip isn't for everyone, like the Bisley, or can be an acquired taste. I finally warmed to my .32BHs and now really like 'em. I think I still prefer the plowhandle if given only one choice, but I can certainly see a BH on my .44 Sheriff or Montado in the future!
Oh, and +1 to the .38-40 comments--sign me up for a convertible!

My feelings too. I think I have as much, possibly more fun tinkering with cast bullet designs, load development, and chrono results than I do with the actual shooting! Partly I 'spose because the old adage "you can't hit what you can't see" is becoming "clear" as I get longer in the tooth... :? And like you, I've been there, done that with a lot of calibers so playing with "difficult" cartridges kinda appeals... :)

You ain't alone amigo...

I'm thinking New Vaquero and, if so, it will be the first New Vaquero Birds Head!
SWEET! :D

I'm with writwing. I've already told my LGS that I want one and I'm seriously thinking of looking under the cushions for enough loose change to get a second one also.

Is the birdshead grip FRAME and GRIP the same size on the .32H&R as it is on the older Vaquero BHs that have the bigger frame. I'm asking to be sure as I'm looking for some white ruger grips for an older Vaq. BH with the black grips and don't want to hesitate if I see some from another model. Actually, I guess the question would apply to the newly made convertable .22 which had white grips also?
To be short, will the Ruger BH grips fit all of Rugers past and present BHs?

Yeeeep,,,, there all the same, Ruger Birdshead is a Ruger Birdshead. Black, White,

The Grip Frame is Same/ Same.

Now the Cylinder frames are different.

Single Six/ Small
New Vaquero/ Medium
Vaquero/ Large

....if you will.

I have both and load for both. Loading is not too much trouble. Just put about a dozens cases in a paper plate and give them a shot of spray lube and your good to go.One thing I like about those calibers is that they seal the chamber when fired so the cases are not all "sooty ect".Lite loads in the old 45 leaves the cases looking like and old sooty stove pipe. But I still lke the 45 also.I have a New Vaquero that I had clements to convert to 38/40.

... again, two Brand Spank'n New Rugers from Lipsey's
