Took my LCP to the range yesterday for the first time. It did not like the HP ammo I fed it.

The ammo was good. worked well with the other 2 pocket pistols I fired. (Remington 88 grain JHP)

I could only get the LCP to fire twice out of the full mag.

IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING THIS SAME EXPERIENCE?

90 grain FMP worked fine in the LCP and the other 380s.

What say youall?

What issues was the LCP having?

Not feeding from the magazine?
Was there binding inside the magazine?
Not chambering?
Not extracting?

Did you take your dial caliber out and check the OAL of the rounds?

Sounds like a light primer strike.

Did you check the primers after they didn't fire?

Did you fire the same rounds again or through the other pistols?

Sorry your having an issue with your LCP. I haven't tried that particular ammunition so I can't give a thumbs up or down. I haven't had any issues with light primer strikes on any of my rounds. I reload so it's easy to notice and LCP is my only .380.

BA.............

Haven't tried to fire the rounds that didn't fire. Pin mark is evident. The 4 rounds are loaded in the Diamondback to see if they fire the next trip to the range. Only get to the range every 4-6 weeks since it's 45 miles away.

Thanks for the feedback.

So, you pulled the trigger and the rounds did not go off, but there are firing pin impacts on the primer?

Sounds like a light primer strike.

45 miles away from a range? Ugh. Nothing in Southern Pines?

Try them again in your back yard on New Years Eve about 11:59 PM.

Everyone will think they're "fireworks." Just kidding

Zeilstra – I too have had issues with HP ammo in my LCP. I have only tried Gold Dot hollow points, but I did have issues with them. My LCP had a few feed issues (meaning that it jammed and didn’t chamber), and I believe that others have had similar issues with HP ammo in the LCP. It didn’t have trouble on every round, just a few. I haven’t tried any other brand of HP yet and I haven’t had any trouble with FMJ rounds.

I agree with the others that the striker may not be hitting the primer hard enough. I had an issue like this with a rimfire revolver years ago. You could see where the striker dented the case, but the round didn’t fire.

My Ruger LCP went back for light strikes a year ago. Ruger fixed it, and paid shipping both ways. Call them.

Loaded the 4 misfires (with striker marks) into my Diamondback. They fired ........no problems.

Will unload HP rounds and use only FMJ rounds in the LCP

The gun shop that sold me my LCP said to run at least 100 rounds of FMJ to break in the pistol before using HP.
That was his experience selling them. So that's what I did. No problems at all.
Best of luck with your LCP.

I've fired about 50 Hydro Shok hollow points and about 200 reloads with 90gr Hornady XTP hollow points in my LCP without a single failure. So I don't think a failure to feed HPs is endemic to the pistol.

Any new auto, but especially a poly frame gun should have a minimum of about 200-300 rounds of "break in " through them before you even think about using them as carry piece.....

I'm just sayin'

Remington 88 gr. HP worked fine in mine, I've never had a failure with the pistol, no matter what ammo I used.

Now, finding Rem. HP ammo in .380 has been a problem. It sells out fast even at Gander Mtn. prices!

There is a question about FBI penetration requirements. Some folks believe they are gospel. The ball ammo might penetrate deep enough, HP opens up and does not penetrate as much.
