So, I bought a brand new LCP, the old model. Took it to the range yesterday, shot one incomplete box of S&B ammo (40-45rounds) and exactly 3 rounds of SB's XRG defensive hollowpoints. Worked flawlessly, recoil felt normal. Today while cleaning it, I've discovered strong wear on the front edge of the metal insert in the frame. Looks like the slide is hitting it pretty hard, there are even traces visible on the slide. Actually producing a burr on the upper edge of the insert. Recoil spring and every other bit in the pistol is factory original, these were the first shots it ever fired. Is this normal?? Should I just ignore it? I mean... the insert is some aluminum stuff and the slide is steel... if they are supposed to meet, the aluminum will always lose. But should they meet in the first place?
Sorry, the pictures are not great, but I think the problem is visible.
