I have had my LC9 for a few months. I had to send the slide back to get the front site pinned and yesterday at the range I had 9 fte (spent cartridge does not extract from the barrel) and it looks like the extractor may be bent has anyone had this issue? I put a spent round in the barrel with no problems.

I clean after every time at the range. I was shooting a variety of ammo American Eagle, PMC, Herters and UMC. No problems with the amer eagle, one fte each with PMC and UMC and several with Herters. I had no problems with the first 300 but had a front site walking issue so Ruger sent me a new slide. The first 200 with the new slide was no problem then the last 2 times at the range I had my issues. The more I read I wonder if I am limpwristing due to the fte's happen toward the end of my session and I have some fatigue. I noticed the extractor doesn't fit flush but it sounds like many other forum members' don't fit flush either. I havn't had any issue with my Glock 22

Same here. Guess which one of these two guns I kept :D

I remember my LC9 extractor didn't fit flush either, one of many imperfections on it. However it worked, I never had FTE.

Just got back from the range and it was all my technique. 2nd shot fte. Tightened up my grip and the next 200 went without a hitch. I can hold my glock like a golf club but not elsee

Moseska,
The recoil spring may be a bit stiff still on your LC9 What I DO WITH MY COMPACR AUTO and then wife's LC9.. Sorry for hitting the caps lock.. I put them away with the slide locked open.. This is the first thing I do to all the new compacts do to there stiffer recoil springs.. Check it once a week, but really you can't hurt it leaving it this way. Sometimes it takes a month or more to notice any difference at all.. Also some good break in will also help. The number of rounds will depend on the gun.. Also if you used some stout rounds like one would use for self defence
124 or 147 +p's I don't think you would have issues even with a weak hold or limp wrists.. +P ammo is fine to run it the gun just don't run tons of it .. try a few rounds of +P124gr and +P147gr with you normal hold.. I don't think if your in a defensive situation at this point in yur training your going to be thinking about proper grip.. Training training training..Will help.. Also you may want to try Galloway Precision They make a Stainless steel guide rod and what they say are heaver #20lb recoil springs for the gun.. I have both and I have found that with the Galloway Precision springs in place when I pullback the slide I don't have hardly as much stacking pull as the slide reaches the rear of it's travel.. This should help your situation I would think.. George

Thank you George. I will store like you suggested. I will also look into the upgrades you suggested.

I love this forum...
