I know Ruger's site is saying the LC9 won't ship before Feb 1st but has anyone actually seen this gun? How long after it ships do you think the public will be able to buy it? Just curious!!!!

A Ruger salesman made a trip through the Boise-area gunshops with a demo model. Several salesmen/sales ladies swear that it exists and report shooting it too.
I have not seen one yet.

Stop by my LGS and asked if they were going to order any LC9's and she said she planned on ordering a couple. I told her from I've read that I was interested. She said Ruger's reputation for new guns isn't very good, lately, because of all the recalls on all the new stuff they came out with. Just that staement alone sort of discouraged me but I still want to see one. Maybe I'll wait awhile to see what the feedback is when they finally get into the gun shops. I'm leaning towards the cautiuos side now.
I Just notice that "Buds" now has a notice up that they are accepting reserve orders. $389 delivered.

Reserve orders? Rugers home page changed from due out 2/1/2011 to "Now Shipping", but I've yet to see one. I plan to check the LC9 out at my local range and they have 20 ordered with no sign yet.

Really??...seems kinda like outdated info. The last 2 releases are SR9c and SR40 and no recalls there. Last recall was LCP 10/2008 as far as I know. Not exactly "lately" as she put it IMO.

they have had some recalls with the early sr9's...but the bugs are all gone and the sr9/sr40 are good guns now.
When they first made the p85 they had recalls also...fixed them and we know how good the p-series guns became, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I picked one up today. Local dealer received them yesterday. Price was $389.
They seem very well made. Trigger pull is long, but smooth. It registers around 7 3/4 lbs on my gauge. Overall the gun seems a bit top heavy when you first pick it up, but balances well. It comes with one mag, with two base plates for it. One with a pinky extension, and one without. The grip is comfortable for me, but I do have small hands. I also have a SR9C, and the grip length feels, and looks the same, however the LC9 is much narrower. I didn't actually measure, but the LC9 over all is narrower than the SR9C. The slide on the LC9 seems about 1 inch shorter than the SR9C. The front of the slide on the LC9 is nicely beveled. I also like the sights. They are drift adjustable, with a lock screw.
I'll try and get out to shoot it tomorrow if the snow ever stops!
