Latest acquisition from Diamond D Custom Leather

Yeah, this is an unabashed brag, so I expect some ego boosting comments from y'all.

For my old S&W 60-10. The drop leg loop is easily removed (3 screws shown in 2nd pic) for regular belt carry. With the drop installed it's worn on the Old Fat Guy 2" belt without using belt loops on pants (1st pic) and is super comfortable that way and how I will usually wear it when I do. It won't take the place of my normal EDC but I will wear it around the property since it's easy to just strap it on and not have to fool around with threading the belt on my pants loops.

It's sometime back, @Bear Paw Jack sent me a brand new Diamond D chest rig, as a gift, out of the clear blue. That holster has made me a believer in Diamond D products, and I own one for many of my revolvers and pistols. (Mostly revolvers ).

And when I wear a belt holster, it's also always on its own belt.

What’s the point of the drop loop? I guess it just moves the gun down further? But then doesn’t it flop around more because of the extra piece?

Other than positioning the gun lower (and therefore much more comfy and easy to get to) it accommodates a reload. Note that I have no intention of hauling this around on a daily basis ( or in public, although I could), and in fact it will have a couple shot shells in the cylinder, and some soft shooting .38 SWC's. All this due to the potential to have to deal with a venomous snake (which I've had to do a few times in the past here - once in my garage), or a 4 legged rabid whatever. I live out in the woods, sooooo.....

As for 'floppy', it isn't. The design of the holster and loop are such that it stays fairly snug against my thigh. Even if it does loosen up over time, I can easily punch a couple holes at the muzzle end for a tie down to my leg old west, movie cowboy, style.

I reckon the bottom line to all this expense( it wasn't cheap) is simply having a easy to wear dedicated woods gun. For the others who have chest rigs, you understand. I did consider that, but it just wasn't for me at this location and time of my life.

One other thing I forgot to mention is the cut out below the trigger guard. Some may like this, others not, but it does make the draw easier.

Awesome, thanks for the explanation. I can see how this would be more comfortable for everyday use compared to a chest rig. Those I can see best use for hunting.

Tanning of carving quality leather is a process and art all it's own.

I have admired the Diamond D since my first time in Alaska. I never could justify the cost. My vertical shoulder holster from Uncle Mike’s carried my Redhawk just fine. I have tried Simply Rugged’s chesty Puller rig, but being short waisted, I ran out of adjustment. I got another one when I bought a SBH, and it worked great. When that gun was sold it was with that rig. I don’t carry the Redhawk much any more. Nothing in middle Tn I need to shoot with it lol.

Hello Gramps, Diamond D “OUTDOORS” makes a chest holster from nylon. Still top quality but lower cost. I have one for my single six
