Has anyone heard of this catalog number? It is reported to be a model number 0192. Has a blue bolt. I have a Model 0192 but it has catalog number KP512, no C. Mine has a stainless bolt.

Thanks, that looks like the pistol described. I wasn’t aware that Ruger would use the same model number for multiple catalog numbers. Just a guess but could the C maybe stand for CampFour?

From memory I think CampFour is CA

The "C" on the end of the catalog number stands for "cased"...and is nothing more than the plastic box it was shipped in.

Thanks for the info. Just trying to sort these out. I have one that Ruger tells me is a KP512 model number 0192 and has a stainless bolt. The KP512Cs that I’ve seen pictures of (4?) are also model number 0192 and all have blue bolts. Don’t know if that is significant. If I understand you correctly the KP512C would be in a plastic box so the KP512 would have come in a cardboard box?

Once Ruger went to a plastic box, they all had the plastic box (starting off with the lockable plastic box). The "C" in the catalog number is usually seen with a gun shipped to Davidson's, and really is nothing significant to how the gun looks.

I don't believe the bolt material is a design distinction. Ruger drawings sometime specify a stainless grade, and a carbon or moly-C grade as acceptable. Unless a distributor pre-paid order (not all DE's are planned or ordered!) is in-play, the model codes are just not that detailed.

And since its not a different model number, there's no way to tell whether it was original or not and I would think somebody has probably changed it.
The stainless KP512 should have a stainless bolt.
The blue P512 should have a blue bolt.

I’ve seen pictures of several of these so I’m suspect of the bolt swapping idea. Since the 22/45 bolts also have the logo it would mean that the swap would have to be with another 22/45. To me that even lessens the likelihood. Just my thoughts on this possibly unsolvable mystery.

I just bought a 1992 22/45 with the heavy taper barrel in stainless, and the bolt is blue with the Ruger eagle on it. I thought it was a KP512, but after reading this, I dunno. I have researched both text and photos by Google and saw another pistol identical to the one I have, and it is described as a KP512. SS receiver/barrel, blue bolt with eagle.
